Our model for success is a better life for everyone and purposeful tasks for our employees. For more than 50 years, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), as a company of the German Federal Government, has been supporting the implementation of development policy goals worldwide. Together with partner organisations in 120 countries, we are involved in a diverse range of projects. If you want to make a difference in the world and develop yourself in the process, you've come to the right place.
Our Offer
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Liaison Office (LO) in the Client and Business Development Department (AGE) is responsible for key account management with the GCF, the development of GIZ project proposals submitted to the GCF and overseeing the implementation of GCF projects. Project proposals are developed and processed in close cooperation with numerous GIZ units in Germany and abroad. In addition, current developments in the GCF are identified and strategic recommendations for action for the GIZ/GCF business are derived from this.
During your internship, you will gain an insight into the work of the GCF-LO and become familiar with international development cooperation and its different dimensions (advisory services, processes, partnerships). You will deepen your knowledge of current developments in international climate finance and get to know GIZ's project work in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation. A particular focus of this internship will be the support of a project development process for a REDD+ Results-based Payments (RbP) project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

- Conduct targeted research and prepare background briefings (primarily in French and English)
- Preparation of presentation material, project plans, preparation and follow-up of meetings (with internal and external stakeholders, in country and abroad)
- Further, you will support the whole GCF Business Development Unit team by participating in workshops, team meetings, knowledge management amongst other activities
Your Profile
- Study in environmental or climate sciences, development studies, political sciences, geography or a related field
- Relevant knowledge and high affinity for the topics of climate change and climate finance; a solid understanding of forest and land-use dynamics would be considered an asset

- Ability to work in a team and sensitive communication behaviour with different stakeholders
- Very good practical knowledge of the usual MS Office applications, skills in graphical presentation in PowerPoint
