GFA Consulting Group is expanding its network of national and international health experts for upcoming development cooperation projects in Syria. We are interested in connecting with experienced professionals who combine strong technical expertise with a sound understanding of the Syrian health sector and its operating context. For many anticipated assignments, particular importance will be placed on Syrian national expertise, in-country professional experience, and established networks in Syria and/or the wider region.
Job description
We are particularly interested in experts with professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health (RMNCH)
- Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS)
- Quality management and quality improvement in primary healthcare
- Development, introduction and strengthening of community health worker programmes
- Education, capacity development and training of healthcare professionals
- Health financing
- Pandemic preparedness and response
- Health information systems and health data management
- Cancer screening
- Prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
Qualifications
We are looking for experts who bring:
- Relevant academic and professional qualifications in public health, medicine, health sciences, health economics, health management or another related discipline
- Demonstrated professional experience in one or more of the technical areas listed above
- Relevant experience in Syria and/or the wider region, ideally combined with a strong understanding of the local health system and stakeholder landscape
- Experience working on international development cooperation or technical assistance projects
- Previous assignments funded by organisations such as GIZ, the European Union, KfW, FCDO, the World Bank, UN agencies or other international donors would be an asset
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to prepare high-quality reports, assessments and technical documents in English
- Knowledge of Arabic and/or Kurdish would be an advantage, depending on the assignment
